Known as Oriental vestment because of its Chinese origin, this vestment for solemn mass is remarkable on several levels.
In addition to its overall good state of conservation, it is a very complete set in terms of number and diversity of liturgical implements, including garments and altar garments. The pieces are assembled from the same textile support, with exuberant and luxurious decoration, based on a compositional and chromatic scheme about a metre high, only fully perceptible in the central panels of the chasuble and the pair of dalmatics, of an amplitude and morphology in keeping with the Roman Baroque model.
