Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament
Originally dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, it was founded in 1636.
Its decoration dates from the transition from the 17th to the 18th century, and it is based on an altarpiece in gilded woodcarving from the Proto-Baroque period, in the centre of which there is an image of Our Lady of the Assumption. It has side walls covered with inlaid marble stonework, of Italian influence, and paintings by Bento Coelho da Silveira (1617-1708), with a Marian theme. The iron portico, of exquisite revivalist design, was commissioned by Misericórdia of Lisbon in the 19th century, as was the silver lamp-stand, a fine example of Porto goldsmithery of that period.
