Chapel of the Holy Family
Built and decorated by the Congregation of the Noblemen, it has an altarpiece in gilded and polychrome woodcarving with a sober and balanced Mannerist decoration, similar to that of the chapel of St. Francis Xavier.
It has a central rectangular panel with a painted canvas depicting “Jesus among the Doctors” by José de Avelar Rebelo (c.1600-1657), articulated with three 16th century sculptures in upholstered and polychromed wood of the Holy Family.
On the side, there are two other paintings from the 17th century, attributed to the painter André Reinoso (c. 1590-pós 1650): the “Adoration of the Magi” (right side) and the “Adoration of the Shepherds” (left side).
