And how do they relate to the many lives and virtues of the saints? And with their carved and painted images? And what connection is there between devotees of saints, their relics and God? In conclusion, how can we describe and study the extraordinary collection and relics in the Church and Museum of São Roque?
These are some of the many questions that shape the reliquiarum project. The new methodologies, good museum practices and internationalisation that the reliquiarum will bring about result from its mission to study relics.
The exhibition is little more: showing a project on display by the Team that will investigate it. It is to show our bibliographical and documentary support, our partners throughout Europe, our doubts and research questions to be posed to the many, very small and hidden relics.
